Cyprus was selected for the 7th International Conference on Translation and Intercultural Studies

On the 5th of July 2018 and 13:30 Cyprus time, it was officially announced by the Board of Directors of the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS) that the proposal of the Department of English Studies of the University of Cyprus was selected for the organization of the 7th International Conference on Translation and Intercultural Studies in June 2021 in Nicosia.
 
The IATIS International Association organizes every three years one of the world's largest conferences in the field of translation and intercultural studies. The successful claim of the 7th International Conference for 2021 was made following a formal proposal tabled by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Deputy Professor of English Studies Georgios Floros, on behalf of the other members of the Organizing Committee, namely:
 
• Reine Meylaerts, Professor and Vice Rector of Research Policy at Catholic University of Louvre, Belgium,
• Simos Grammenidis, Professor of the Department of French Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and President of the Hellenic Society for Translation,
• Vilhelmini Sosoni, Assistant Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University, and
• Vasso Giannakopoulou, Lecturer at the Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus.
 
It is a special honour and a significant success of the Organizing Committee and the Department of English Studies of the University of Cyprus, which will highlight the translation studies, offered by at the University of Cyprus and will offer the opportunity to become a world-class Greek-language educational institution in translation and interpretation.
 
It is worth noting that the organization of this conference in the city of Nicosia in 2021 follows previous competitions in Hong Kong (2018), Belo Horizonte of Brazil (2015), Belfast (2012), Melbourne (2009), Cape Town (2006) and Seoul (2003).
