On Friday, November 9, a meeting was held within the framework of the project "Upgrading and Extending the Electronic File for Monitoring the Treatment of Dependent Individuals" of the Cyprus Dependency Response Authority. Within the framework of the project, the Mobile Devices Laboratory (MDL) of the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, of University of Frederick, has developed a new electronic application for monitoring the treatment course of Dependent Individuals. In the meeting, the Laboratory of Mobile Devices presented the electronic application to the competent bodies that will use it and are subject to the Cyprus Dependency Response Authority.

Specifically, the Cyprus Response Authority, in the framework of the implementation of the National Strategy 2013-2020 and aiming at the more efficient interconnection, the better organization and functional integration of the therapeutic services provided to the persons who contact with various competent bodies that belong to it for treatment due to the use of addictive substances, in collaboration with Frederick University, developed a new electronic application to monitor their healing path. This electronic application uses state-of-the-art technologies, offering flexibility, usability and better performance in the functions of the various services involved.

In addition to monitoring the treatment course (with full respect for personal data), the standardization of procedures and data that the new application allows will make a decisive contribution to shaping a comprehensive picture of the course of treatment of people with substance abuse problems in Cyprus. In addition, it will facilitate the work of the human resources working on these services, allowing time and statistical data to be consistently and continuously over time for real costing of the services provided, as well as more efficient monitoring of the dependency effect in our country.

This cooperation is one of many collaborations that the Frederick University Laboratory has developed over the last few years with governmental and private organizations in Cyprus and abroad, to develop web-based smartphone applications and applications for the benefit of these organizations.
