Distinction as "Biggest Contributor to the Rise of Blockchain in 2018"

University of Nicosia was named "Biggest Contributor to the Rise of Blockchain in 2018"
 
As part of the largest blockchain exhibition in Europe, the first international "The Blocks" awards, which promote excellence in blockchain technologies
 
University of Nicosia has been distinguished with the title "Biggest Contributor to the Rise of Blockchain in 2018" at this year's Blockchain Expo Europe, held at the RAI in Amsterdam on 26-27 June 2018. This award is given to organizations that have demonstrated excellence in the strategy, implementation, or effectiveness of blockchain technologies over the past year.
 
More generally, the "Biggest Contributor" award is considered as recognition of the continuation of the University's initiatives in education and research in the blockchain. University of Nicosia is the world's first university to offer a free-of-charge introductory course in the Digital Currency, while its MSc in Digital Currency was the first full academic program in the field. University of Nicosia once again pioneered in blockchain technology as the first university in the world to publish all of its graduate titles in Blockchain since last year, while utilizing this technology to electronically authenticate certificates (Bachelors, Postgraduate and Doctoral Diplomas).
 
"We are proud to contribute practically to the adoption of blockchain technology from the academic world as well as to the promotion of frontier research and education in this field. We are particularly pleased that our efforts are recognized in this way as part of the biggest annual event in Europe on the blockchain, "said Soulla Louka, Head of the Blockchain Initiative of University of Nicosia.
 
The award ceremony took place on 27 June 2018 in Amsterdam, following an exciting first day of the Blockchain Expo that included keynote speeches, interactive discussion groups, and case studies for problem solving. Richard Kastelein, founder of Blockchain News and host of the event, addressed the meeting, which aimed to reward excellence in blockchain technologies.
 
The jury of The Blocks was made up of leading industry figures such as Marcella Atzori, Tiana Laurence, Nick Nickton and others. All entries were judged on the basis of the following criteria: Innovation, Technical Excellence, Impact, Usability, Efficiency, Implementation, and Perspective for Development.
 
"Blockchain Expo" is the largest annual event in Europe for blockchain businesses, which gathers over 8,000 dedicated blockchain participants from major industry venues. The two-day exhibition presents world-class work by leading organizations embracing and developing state-of-the-art blockchain technologies.
