The Cyprus University of Technology was awarded by the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education, with the award "Golden Protector of the Environment" for the year 2018.
CUT is the first Green University in Cyprus to be awarded this distinction.
The Golden Protector concerns the organization's actions on the following topics:
• Manages environmental issues as an integral part of its operational policy.
• Establishes environmental practices and actions.
• Reduces the consumption of natural resources through the adoption of appropriate best practices.
• It strengthens local environmental actors and undertakes environmentally friendly actions within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Candidate Bodies' evaluation was carried out by the Scientific Evaluation Committee for the 2018 Environmental Awards for Organizations and Enterprises in the presence of the Environment Commissioner and representatives of all the partners.
The process assessed the organization's commitment to respect and protection of the environment, environmental policy, environmental awareness and education, and environmental corporate social responsibility.
The award ceremony will take place on January 22, 2019 at a Special Official Ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The awarding of the awards will be made by the Excellency President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nikos Anastasiades.
