University assessment is based on strict criteria for five areas: Teaching, Research, Citations, Transfer of Know-How - Industry Income, and International Orientation. The Times Higher Education methodology includes feeds from open bibliographic databases (Scopus), questionnaires for evaluating teaching and research fame and reporting by the universities themselves, providing a safe tool for students, academics, industry and governments.

The Rector of the University, Professor Andreas Anagiotos, in his statement said:

"Continuing discrimination in international rankings recognizes the international impact of the University. It is obvious that we have the good outside testimony from the international scientific community about the work that the University produces. Recognition of academic research is also reflected in the 60th position in the category of Scientific Publications, which is due to the quality of our academic publications in prestigious journals and conferences. The Cyprus University of Technology must, with hard work, maintain the upper hand of Cypriot higher education by strengthening its role in its areas of expertise. "
