CUT continues its upward trend

International recognitions for the youngest public university of our country continue, which ranked 59th in the new Higher Education Young University Rankings 2018, published on June 6th.
It is noteworthy that this ranking is significantly higher than last year, which was in 88th place.

Despite its few years of operation, Cyprus University of Technology has succeeded in including for the second consecutive year the Young University Rankings 2018, formerly known as THE 150 Under 50 Rankings. It is worth noting that CUT is ranked first among all Greek-speaking universities, ensuring the highest rating in the category "References", which highlights the great impact of the scientific work it produces internationally. In this list, University of Crete ranks 62nd and University of Cyprus in 64th place.

The Times University Higher Education List 2018, which this year includes the 250 best new universities in the world with less than 50 years of life, uses the same stringent and demanding 13 performance indices as used in the THE World University Rankings list. The universities listed show high levels of performance in the fields of Teaching, Research, Transfer of Know-how, and International Image and Perspectives. However, the methodology has been updated so that fame and tradition count less and better reflect the special characteristics of the new Universities. In addition, CUT ranks 14th among the top of the last generation universities, which are in the rankings of the Young University Rankings 2018: Millennial Universities, including the top 36 universities in the world established since the year 2000 to date.

It is important to mention that CUT is the fourth leading university internationally, following the Universities of Paris Sciences & Letters - PSL University, University of Luxembourg and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, which were created as entities in the 21st century, in disparity with universities higher than CUT, resulting from mergers of two or more entities or a transformation of pre-existing entities.

On the occasion of the recent rankings, Rector of CUT, Professor Andreas Anagiotos stated that: "The honourable 59th position received by CUT among a large number of leading new universities worldwide is another important milestone in its positive academic course ". In less than eleven years of operation, CUT ranks first among all Greek-speaking universities in this list, and emerges as the 4th top among the universities created in the 21st century. This highlights the rapid rise of our country's youngest public university to international academic excellence, bringing it even higher in national and international academic timeliness.

Mr. Anagiotos continues: "Recognition of the dynamic upward course of CUT is great joy, honour, but it also commits us to continue to excellence in research in cutting edge fields and in offering quality education. We need hard work, unremitting effort and commitment to our strategic goals to maintain high returns and strengthen areas that need to be improved. "
