University of Cyprus comes first among Cyprus universities in the Nature Index

Nature Index is a database of authors of scientific / research articles published in 68 independent and high-quality scientific journals. The database includes scientific articles in the fields of physics (physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science), not including humanities and classical sciences (history, languages, psychology, etc.).
 
The nature index covers a period of 12 months and is rolling; it’s updated, every month. It provides, therefore, the possibility of calculation and directly comparing research results between educational institutions at national and regional / international level. The Nature index is an important tool that reflects the research excellence and the performance of universities.
 
The following table shows the results for the period 1 March 2017 to 28 February 2018.University of Cyprus is ranked first among all university and research institutes in Cyprus. University of Cyprus even increased its number of publications from 64 at last year, to 72. It is noteworthy that in this period University of Cyprus is ranked 198th in the number of publications in Europe.

1. Article count (AC): It includes the number of articles in which at least one of the authors is a member of university staff, regardless of how many co-authors there are.
 
2. Fractional count (FC): It takes into account the percentage of authors who are members of the University, in relation to all the co-authors of the article. For the calculation of FC, all authors are considered to have contributed equally to the article.
