Rector: "We are building and restructuring the humanities and getting to the top"

The new ranking of the Times Higher Education New Europe published on April 25, 2018, is a confirmation of the excellence of University of Cyprus. The ranking concerns leading research universities of the New Europe- Times Higher Education, the 13 countries that joined the EU in the EU since 2004.

Based on the ranking, which was first presented at the New Europe conference in Olomouc, University of Cyprus is ranked among the top 3 top universities, after Tartu University (Estonia) and CUT (Cyprus University of Technology), which ranked second. The fact that both public universities of Cyprus are at the top 3 of "New Europe", is a huge success.

The list includes a total of 53 institutions. For the rankings of universities in the new list of the best research universities in New Europe, the same criteria were used as in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking list. The applied evaluation model uses rigorous standards and global comparisons for all areas of the mission of universities. In particular, the Times Higher Education world rankings use 13 performance indicators, grouped into the following areas: Teaching, Research, Research References, Income from Research and Innovation, International Image and Perspective. Data is collected from measurable objective data as well as from data from TIMES itself. It is noteworthy that University of Cyprus ranked first in the category of industry score and international score and second in the category of research, with very little difference from the first university.
